The Somatics Institute was created to contribute to the developing field of Somatics.
The Institute contributes to the development of the theory base, or principles, of somatic practice with a particular focus on professional development courses designed to teach massage therapists to integrate somatics knowledge and techniques into their practice.

Our education focus is professional development training for massage therapists and other somatic practitioners. We believe that an integrated therapist practices the principles of healing in one's own life. The educational focus of each training program is to learn through the body, drawing from personal experience to support one's work with others. |
Somatics
The principles that define
the somatics paradigm - sensory based
learning and the organization of movement through patterns - enhance traditional massage training with a wide variety of approaches to experiential learning.
Arts Oriented Education
Writing, drawing, claywork, and other media are used to engage all learning styles in a body-based education experience. Integrated Learning
Information in core subject areas are introduced sequentially throughout each course so that information can be absorbed and integrated through practical application.
Each course is part of an integrated curriculum. Skills learned in one class or workshop relate to information learned in all other training options offered by the Somatics Institute.
