Ayurvedic cure for Diarrhea & fever
is a creeper met with in Malaya, and India, the seeds of which have anthelmintic properties and are useful in cases of round worms. Four or five seeds are crushed and made into an electuary with honey; this is given to children to cause expulsion of the worms. Larger doses are apt to cause spasms and other all effects in some constitutions. The ripe seeds are roasted and given in diarrhea and fever. The leaves are given in a compound decoction for flatulent distension of the abdomen. The fruits are found to contain a fixed oil 15 p. a, of a yellow color and a peculiar odour, a sugary
substance similar to levulose and an organic acid similar to cathartic acid. The seeds yield an alkaline ash.
