Papaver Rhoeas an annual herb with a milky juice

Papaver Rhoeas herb with a milky juice is met with in Cashmere and in several plains of India. Syrup of Red poppy (1 in 1« of water and 2« of sugar) is a preparation used as a coloring agent. The milk from the capsules is narcotic and has slightly sedative properties.----(Watt). .
