8. Anona Muricata of the Natural Order. Anonaceae, is indigenous to West Indies but cultivated in Eastern India. The ripe fruit has pleasant slightly acid pulp which is employed in preparing refrigerant drink in fevers. When unripe, it is very astringent and is employed in intestinal atony and in scorbutic conditions. The bark is astringent and the root bark is given in ptomaine-poison. ing, especially, after putrid fish-eating. The leaf is used as an anthelmintic and externally as suppurant. |
