It contains a volatile & a fixed oil is the species growing on the higher mountains of the Western Peninsula and Ceylon. It contains a volatile and a fixed oil, acrid resin, tannin, sugar, starch, calcium oxalate etc. The baric in infusion and decoction is used as febrifuge like that of M. Champaca.
